His Eyes Are Blue is a short film about a sharp-witted, writing teacher who hosts a moody, teenage boy for a weekend “Writer’s Workshop” at her family ranch. Tom, in the midst of writing his college essay, is the only person to show up to Evangeline Wordsworth's annual workshop. Her outlandish teaching style conflicts with Tom’s critical temperament. With the help of her ranch hand, Evangeline strives to instill meaningful life lessons that Tom can carry with him to college.

Evangeline Wordsworth Evangeline is always looking for some way to express herself, so hosting the “Witty Ramblers Writers Workshop” brings her lots of excitement. She is full of ideas and expresses them through her creative and clever sense of humor. She enjoys any and all forms of self-expression, which includes writing, talking, dancing, and crafting. She is a planner so there always activities on her itinerary. She has a deep appreciation for her family history and makes an effort to tell the long tumultuous tale of how she ended up at her family ranch. She hopes to inspire young writers and find creative fulfillment. She fears that her voice will be unheard and that she will never reach her potential.
Tom Tom is a teenage boy who is forced into introspection and self-expression while writing his college admissions essay. Tom uses snarky and sarcastic comments to deflect that fact that he is scared of what his future holds. He enjoys reading, and has an extensive knowledge of Hemingway quotes. His Myers Briggs personality type is INTJ, those of which “will often act unilaterally to enact their technically superior, sometimes insensitive, and almost always unorthodox methods and ideas." He hopes that one day he will feel comfortable with himself. He dreams of living an independent life and not being controlled by his parents. He fears rejection.
Jesse Paul Jesse Paul is the ranch hand and a dear friend to Evangeline. He knows the land better than anyone. Whether it's hog hunting or fixing a leaky sprinkler, he is always around to get the job done. He always carries around a pair of binoculars just in case anyone needs help seeing something. Jesse Paul gives life advice to Tom that helps him appreciate his time on the ranch.
Luther Luther is the late student that shows up to the ranch at the end of the film. He is a nerdy teenager who appears to be someone who, if he had showed up instead of Tom, would have thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Luther provides comedic relief when Tom arrives to the ranch as “the boy who never came”. When he finally arrives to the ranch, Evangeline welcomes him with open arms.
